Overview
Russia is still considered a mystery wrapped in an enigma. Enjoy a city break to Moscow or St Petersburg, or combine the two for a holiday.
The options in both cities are almost endless, and only a small selection of sights and activities to experience and enjoy have been highlighted. Why not call our experienced advisors 01244 202 000 and let us tailor a Russian experience just for you.
Moscow
Moscow is a vibrant, dynamic and fascinating city often misrepresented and shunned in favour of her Imperial rival St Petersburg.
Home to the Bolshoi Opera and Ballet, (due to reopen 2011) enjoy a performance and a backstage tour or glimpse into the Soviet era, with a tour of the stunning Metro system, Lenin's tomb or the cold war bunker. Why not visit the magnificent churches of the Kremlin or admire the greatest collection of purely Russian Art at the Tretyakov or even the impressionist masterpieces in the State Pushkin Museum.
St Petersburg
St Petersburg changes dramatically with the seasons. During the summer months it benefits from long days and white nights, the sun glinting off grand pastel-coloured buildings and golden spires. Winter offers frozen rivers with the city lying under a crisp blanket of snow which is in a word stunning, and arguably the most romantic time of year.
You could spend a month here and still have plenty to do and see, but dont miss the Hermitage Museum in the Winter Palace with an exclusive tour of the Gold Treasure Rooms.
